Project Notes
Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary desired a new altar window in place of a painted wall niche. Because the wall behind the altar did not have access to the exterior, LSG also fabricated and installed artificial lighting within the niche, including a new gothic-top aluminum frame and diffuser panels. Careful consideration went into the design to ensure it complimented the aesthetics of the existing nave windows. For example, beyond the evident diamond motif, subtle painted symbols, including fleur-de-lis, crescent moon, and monogram of the Blessed Virgin, are scattered in the background. Also, because of the this window’s comparatively large distance from the congregation, bolder lines were used to make it clearly visible while remaining sylistically consistent with the original windows.
