Nave Windows
The “Call of the Fishermen” window series comprises approximately 325 sq. ft. of stained glass at St. Andrew Apostle Catholic Church.
The narrative begins near the altar with Christ on the shore. As he calls to the fishermen, His words are caught up in the wind and become intertwined with the nets of Simon Peter and Andrew, forever changing their lives. Andrew is the first to recognize Jesus, and he points out the Savior to his brother, who just begins to look up from his work with a touch of puzzlement in his expression. Flowing colors begin to form auras around the brothers as they heed Jesus’ call, and their nets become purely symbolic, revealing how the two disciples will catch other souls out of a sea of darkness and confusion. The faces of those being saved vary from fully illustrated to merely suggested, indicating that these souls are past, present, and future, and are being guided toward the “Light of the World.”
