Project Notes
St. Jude Catholic Church commissioned Lynchburg Stained Glass to design, fabricate, and install windows for each end wall of their cruciform-plan building, with the west rose window consisting of four areas of leaded stained glass approximately 5’x5’ and the transept windows containing perimeter bands totaling 56 ft2.
The altar window features the three holy women emerging into the light of dawn to discover an angel at the now-empty tomb, as a three-budded lily emerges through the discarded crown of thorns. The risen sun in the center forms around the statue of the Risen Son, which the window was designed to compliment.
These stained-glass windows were fabricated using primarily imported, hand-blown antique glass, with imported and domestic cathedral glass included as well.
