Project Notes
St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church commissioned Lynchburg Stained Glass to design, fabricate, and install custom, contemporary leaded stained-glass windows for their new sanctuary. The project included a 10-ft. rose window and eighteen sanctuary windows, totaling approximately 900 ft/sq. Additionally, LSG designed, fabricated, and installed twenty small stained-glass clerestory windows in the church’s chapel. The sanctuary windows trace the life of St. Maximilian Kolbe through symbolic and figurative images that illustrate his knowledge, interests, and achievements. Central to each triptych is a different image showing an appearance of Our Lady. This type of lightly-painted, modern-style window serves to control sunlight while still allowing a considerable amount of natural light into the interior space, along with a view of the exterior environment.
Nave Windows
The Nave windows celebrate the life and teachings of St. Maximilian Kolbe, and each set of 3 windows features a different image of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
