Contemporary clear glass windows utilize two main features in lieu of color: background and texture. When it comes to designing these windows for a church building, the background vista matters tremendously. In some cases, churches have used a tree on the outside of the window to create “natural” green light. Textures are also used in order to create depth.
Sometimes a contemporary clear glass window is designed with just a touch of stained glass, which will generally feather out to clear and textured glass around the perimeter (see example below). This approach makes for a cost-effective stained-glass solution.
